Photography, for me, is an act of self-discovery because we shoot what we care about from a perspective only we have. By selecting the images that resonate with us, we reveal the memories, feelings, values and cultural preferences that make us tick. The process gives us an authentic way to express ourselves and engage with the world.

The freedom to travel was the catalyst for my creative journey. And the artistic eudaemonia I get from image-making gave me the courage to prioritise photography and live on the road. To underwrite this endeavour, I studied Documentary Photography & Reportage at the Instituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Madrid and Freelance & Feature Writing at the London School of Journalism.

My friends call me Rookie or Rookster. While these nicknames may be unimaginative, they have come to reflect my guiding principle. In Zen philosophy, they say, “In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities. In the expert’s mind, there are few.” I try to keep this open-mindedness with me when I photograph. The camera teaches me things. Sharing my visual ideas through photo essays and personal projects allows me to question the world and make sense of life events.

This Substack explores the notion that no photograph has any meaning other than the meaning we choose to give it. Welcome to The Eye of My Mind. Slip inside.
